Asphalt is one of the most recycled materials on Earth

An Eighth of a Mile of Recycled Asphalt Millings | Odessa | Firm Foundations

Asphalt is one of the most recycled materials on Earth — and that is one of our favorite things about this trade.

A millings driveway is recycled asphalt given a second life: ground, graded, and compacted until it binds tight and sheds Florida rain better than you would expect. Durability without the hot-mix price tag. It is an honor to take a material that already served once and turn it into an entryway a homeowner is proud of.

This one in Odessa runs almost an eighth of a mile — six inches of compacted millings where, two months ago, there was no driveway at all. If you have been following along, you watched this one come out of the woods.

And here is the part that makes us proudest: that driveway earned an encore. Just up the road, we are getting ready to build a quarter mile of the same — twice the length, through dense woods again. The first crew on that site will not be running equipment. It will be a wildlife survey team walking the route, making sure all of God's creatures in those woods are protected before the project begins.

Firm Foundations does not just complete projects right the first time. We get them right because we care. Every project is treated like it is our investment — not just something to be completed.
