Stormwater & Drainage Contractor in Tampa, FL
Stormwater and drainage work in Tampa Bay for commercial properties, HOAs, and industrial sites. Firm Foundations installs, repairs, and services catch basins, trench drains, culverts, storm grates, and lift stations — including custom solutions for restricted or wildlife-sensitive sites.
What our drainage scope covers
Florida's rain patterns and high water table make drainage one of the most expensive things to get wrong. We handle the full infrastructure, not just the surface fix.
- Catch basins — install, repair, re-grade
- Trench drains for loading docks and ramps
- Culvert repair and replacement
- Storm grate replacement (including galvanized, cast iron, custom)
- Lift station servicing and troubleshooting
- Retention pond edge and weir repair
- Downspout tie-ins and parking lot inlet work
- Custom water-control structures for site-specific constraints
How we diagnose drainage failures
Pooling, bubbling, staining, and sinkholes are the four signs we look for on a drainage walk. Each one points at a different failure mode — a clogged inlet, a broken pipe below, an undersized basin, or a settlement issue under the slab.
On larger systems we camera-inspect pipes before quoting. That tells us whether we're servicing a clog, replacing a section, or re-grading an inlet. Guessing is expensive — the fix for a settled basin is not the fix for a cracked culvert.
Lift stations are a separate skill. CVS retail stores needed 15 lift-station service calls across the portfolio — pump pulls, float sensor replacement, panel work. We handle those on quarterly or on-call schedules.

Stormwater & Drainage FAQ
What are the signs of a drainage failure?
Standing water that doesn't clear in 24 hours, bubbling from inlets during rain, dark staining around basin lids, and settlement cracks in the slab near drains. Any one of those is worth a walk.
How often should a lift station be serviced?
Quarterly minimum for commercial sites. More often if the site has FOG (fats-oils-grease) load from food service, or if the pumps are nearing design life.
Do you dredge ponds?
No — our pond work is limited to edge, weir, inflow, and outflow. Dredging is a specialty we refer out.
Do you handle permits?
Yes — we pull drainage, stormwater, and site-work permits where required, and we coordinate with the water management district when scope demands it.
Can you work with existing engineering drawings?
Yes — we work from your civil drawings when available, or we scope from field conditions when they're not. On larger jobs we loop in an engineer for stamped drawings.
